About

My goal is to combine a client’s vision with the specific requirements of their site, transforming imaginative ideas into inspiring and practical gardens with character.

An active love of landscapes, architectural history, art and design informs my work. I have a strong eye for detail and I’m very passionate about connecting a garden with its surrounding environment to create a unique sense of place. I use key features of a property’s character and the nature of the site to inform the direction of my designs; translating them into suitable contemporary or classic styles that hamonise with quality construction techniques and materials. This sets the scene for beautiful plant combinations that provide structure, texture, colour and finesse; bringing your garden to life.

Newly relocated on the Cartmel Penninsula in Cumbria, I continue to have strong connections with the Peak District National Park and Derbyshire.

I have 25 years of design experience with a background in interior architecture and graphic design. Since 2012, I've shifted the direction of my career towards professional horticulture and garden design to combine creativity and strength in design with my passion for plants and love of the countryside, and belief in the value of our precious green spaces. I’m very proud to be a graduate with distinction from the London College of Garden Design and I have completed RHS Level 2 – Garden Planning and Maintenance.

Born in Derbyshire and raised in Sheffield I’ve always been mesmerised by the Peak District and it’s striking contrasts. As a child, I was fortunate enough to have the Botanical Gardens with Paxton's glasshouses as a ‘virtual’ continuation of my back garden and I’d spend hours exploring every inch of the grounds. Today, much of my free time is still spent outdoors; through work, fell running and hill walking with Marlo the Welsh Terrier, time with family and friends and of course special moments in my own garden. Learning the art of stone carving and furniture-making has been a recent and rewarding pastime. Travel is also important to me and I find inspiration from unusual places in-country and overseas.
